Happy Food for Koh Phangan
Islands like Koh Phangan that usually rely on tourism are in an extremely precarious position, having seen the rise of extensive unemployment. Happy Food is a community-based initiative to “feed people who can’t afford to feed themselves” during the pandemic. They are also feeding migrant workers and their families from Myanmar who are now stuck on the island without work.
This fundraiser has officially ended as Happy Food for Koh Phangan has reached its goal, raising US$10,500!
By the end of its 5-month long campaign Happy Food has distributed 105,000 kilos of rice for 500,000 meals.
Happy Food is moving on to its next phase - passing on the project to locals. If you're interested in donating to them, get in touch with Ole Norheim here: https://gogetfunding.com/help-feed-hungry-unemployed-workers-on-koh-phangan-thailand
